Kigali City Tour combine historical and cultural attractions of the Kigali city.
Your guide meets you at your hotel to start the day with a trip to some of the best landmarks in town. We will explore and discover Kigali like a local. We will walk through the old town, visit women’s cooperatives, craft shops, museums, art galleries, markets and local restaurants for a taste of the Rwandan cuisine.
We first visit the Kigali genocide memorial; the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi. We then proceed to Kigali business district and stop by Hotel Rwanda, the Belgian UN peacekeepers memorial; the Natural History Museum (Kandt House) which offers insight into historical Rwanda, from pre-colonial time to independence.
We proceed to Kigali’s old town and perhaps the most vibrant neighbourhood with delightful mud-brick houses with corrugated roofs usually held by used tyres. We walk through the dusty streets full of shops, hair salons, open air laundry, a flea market and street mechanics. We take a lunch break to get a taste of Rwandan cuisine.
Next, we step into Kimironko market, and get to know the local culture on a spectacular tour through the city.
Before heading back to the hotel, we take a quick trip through the bustling handicraft Market to browse the array of African souvenirs.
