Is Rwanda safe to travel?

Rwanda is considered one of the safest countries in Africa.

The genocide left permanent scars but Rwanda has rebuilt into a peaceful, clean, vibrant, progressive space with an emphasis on technology, gender equality, community growth and preserving its natural resources. 


Best time to visit Rwanda

From March to May, the rain is heavy and persistent. This time is the best chance of getting up close to the wildlife. 

From June to September is the long dry season; this is the best time to go hiking in forests or climb the volcanoes because it is not muddy and slippery.

Entry Visa

Rwanda grants visa on arrival to all the citizens from all the over the world. Citizens of countries members of the African Union, the Commonwealth and Francophonie are granted free entry visa for a period of 30 days.

Do tour prices include hotel pickup?

All our tours include hotel pickup and drop-off.

All our multi day tours include hotel accommodation and breakfast at 3-star lodge.

We are happy to upgrade you to a luxury lodge should you wish to upgrade/pay an extra fee.

Do tour prices include permits

All our prices include permits for the booked tour with a guide. Permits are tickets that allow you to visit national parks or museums. 

In the event you change your flight or cancel the tour, the permit will not be refunded but can be re-scheduled at an extra fee if the request is made at least 7 days before the time of the tour.

Dietary needs

Almost all hotels and lodges that cater for our travelers will be happy to make sure your special dietary needs are taken care of.

Please make sure to give us advanced notice so that we can make arrangements with the hotel, lodges and camps concerned.

Privacy policy

YAMBI Tours is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information that you provide to us when using our web site. 

We will safeguard, according to strict standards of security and confidentiality, any information our customers share with us.

Payment with Credit Cards

We accept most credit cards but there is a 3% processing fee surcharge for card payments. 

Payment can also be made via our online payment platforms Payoneer and DPO.

Booking Terms & Conditions

For bookings that include gorilla & chimpanzee tracking, full payment will be required for us to secure the permits before they are sold out. 

For other bookings, we require 50% deposit and balance is payable at least 7 days prior to commencement of the tour. Deposits are not refundable.

Minimum age for Safari

There is no minimum age limit required to stay at a safari lodge or camp in Rwanda. However, children should be over four (4) years old to participate in game drives (recommended, not mandatory).

Minimum age for gorilla trek

15 years and above is the age that is recommended to track gorillas in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. Children below the age of 15 years are not allowed due to safety protocols.

Minimum age for Nyungwe

To walk on canope walkway: 7 years & above
To track chimpanzees: 15 years & above
For camping or walking in the tea plantations: no age restrictions. 

Group Tour

A group tour means you are traveling together with other persons. The group may be made up of your acquaintances or not. It is normally cheaper to travel in a group. But it does not have any flexibility and personal freedom as everything has to go according to a pre-planned schedule.

Private Tour

A private tour means you travel with persons of your choice – family, friends, colleagues. You select the dates of travel, the locations to visit, the accommodation type and standard and the duration of the safari. You can make changes with regard to the safari activities and the time to take them.
